With this publication, the Young Academy (De Jonge Academie) of Belgium (Flanders) offers a contemporary sampling of the multitude of practices on the border -or in the overlap- between art and science.

OVERLAP aims to explore the field between art and science. Artists and scientists share an unbridled curiosity to understand, explain and change the world around them. De Jonge Academie set out to find cross connections, synergies and conflicts between contemporary artistic and scientific practices. The exploration of this border area - the overlap - between science and art resulted in an "expo on paper" with 52 artistic contributions and 12 essays. Each piece offers a unique perspective in a dialogue with no unambiguous outcome. This in-between area is a challenging no man's land where different laws and pluralities coexist. The friction stimulates the imagination and makes the unimaginable conceivable. Does it hold the key to what lies beyond the limits of what we know?

The soundtrack of composer Kreng (Pepijn Caudron) to the performance Selfed was released on the Drone Records Label in their Substantia Innominata 10"-Vinyl series.

It is a double 10 inch (45 rpm) in a gatefold sleeve. One 10" is blue/black, the other one is transparent red with black smoke. 3 sides of music, the fourth side has has a 'clear on red' etching of the credits.

Enraciné dans la pratique des arts de la scène, L'L est une structure bruxelloise qui offre aux artistes du temps pour chercher. Sa démarche est singulière et unique en son genre: les artistes y travaillent sans obligation de résultat et sans limite dans le temps, selon un protocole rigoureux de soutien et d'accompagnement artistiques.

Pour les 25 ans de L'L, le journaliste Laurent Ancion propose une réflexion sur ce que signifie un processus de recherche dans les arts de la scène, à partir d'entretiens menés avec des artistes ayant expérimenté à L'L cette autre manière de travailler et de créer, ainsi qu'avec des connaisseurs des arts de la scène, tant en Belgique qu'en France. Cette réflexion a pour guide une question lancinante: si on ne prend plus le temps de chercher, comment pourrait-on espérer trouver quelque chose ?

Cet ouvrage se présente comme un objet ludique qui prend la forme d'un dictionnaire, accompagné d'un article qui décortique la notion de recherche, mais aussi de locutions, de pages à caractère encyclopédique, de cartes blanches d'artistes et d'une «ligne du temps» de L'L de 1990 à aujourd'hui. Des entrées multiples (140 exactement) et des définitions à tiroirs abordent cette question de la nécessité d'un temps consacré à la recherche, avec une sagacité non dénuée d'acidité, tout en invitant à une lecture aussi désordonnée qu'alerte.
